Bad Day pick me up

I had what was the potentially the worst day of my work year yesterday so what better way to make myself feel better than …

P1020363

Pizza Capers bonanza pizza and some lovely NZ Sauv Blanc. I would have preferred a big hug from the boy but he is working out of town at the moment but pizza and wine are a reasonable substitute!

My lovely co-worker bought me in a little gift this morning to wish me a better day today than yesterday– she is one of the most thoughtful and generous people I have ever met. Here is me taking a photo of myself hiding under my desk drinking a massive hot chocolate she bought me one day, ‘just cos’. P1010461

Hope everyone has a great weekend whatever you are getting up to. I’m excited for a deceased estate sale in the morning. Hope to pick up some bargains to show off on Monday.

Positivity

I have been selected by Erica over at Recycled Fashion to complete a blog challenge to list 6 positive things about myself and share a picture I like of myself.

I have always struggled to talk about myself positively but here goes …

  1. I am generous – If I see something that I know someone will love while out thrifting I will get it for them and not expect anything in return.
  2. I am smart – I was very proud when I graduated with a Bachelor of IT with distinction in 2008.
  3. I have been blessed with a great family and a terrific bunch of friends and believe that they feel the same way about me
  4. I am pretty easy going – I don’t take things too seriously and most of the time don’t let things get me down.
  5. I generally try to keep pretty healthy. I habitually visit the gym and try to eat a balanced diet – a balanced diet includes a couple of packets of lollies a week right?
  6. I am a good mother heehee … to the pooch who has featured on this blog. I love him to bits and probably treat him way too well but I figure it’s all just practice for when the real thing comes along.

This pic of me and the boy was taken at our local races earlier this year – I loved my whole outfit. I love nothing more than getting all dolled up for a day at the races : )

Another fave you may recognise as the picture in my blog header. It was at a friend’s 30th last year. Just seeing this photo makes me happy – was an awesome night.

It is my duty to pass this on to some fellow bloggers. The challenge is now being thrown to some of blogs I always keep up to date with:

Hope everyone’s week is going well.

Vintage Dresses

I have been picking more and more cute vintage dresses up but am not able to wear them straight away cos they are all such an awkward length. So grandma has been kept busy with hemming them up to a more suitable length. I’ve been thinking I should learn to sew myself but then I looked at the price of sewing machines and was quickly put off – maybe one day!

Here is one that grandma has recently finished (my hair was being gay yesterday)

and one that I picked up garage sale-ing with mum on Saturday. My aunty up from Brisbane said I looked like I was about to go milk the cows.

This is me ummm pretending to milk a cow – quite clearly I have never done this so am not quite sure what I look like I’m doing in this photo.

And finally me modelling the dress pre-makeover.

Op Shop finds

Marge, the rains are ere …
My op shop drought from a few weeks ago has lifted.

Here is a selection of goodies I’ve found recently:

The Bride Book – so CUTE! I can’t wait to get the opportunity to use this – so many details can be added. It was a gift to a bride to be but she never used it. The only evidence that the wedding took place was the guest list tucked into the back- $2 at Vinnies

I love bows so picked these up for $3 at Lifeline last week – does anyone know what they are?
P1020208
a HUGE retro big-eye print for $2 at a garage sale
P1020178

some West Germany pottery canisters – not sure where I’ll use them yet. Maybe the kitchen, bathroom or the bedroom. $3 from Vinnies
P1020185
And some retro bags – tan leather was $3 from Vinnies and the round hessian look bag was $1 from Salvos – I love it!

Hoping to do some garage sales this coming weekend. Feels like ages since I’ve gone.

Recent Purchases

We have finally paid off our trip so this past weekend was my first ‘real’ shop in a few months (not that I don’t love the opping I’ve been doing!)

From DFO I got:

Windsor Smith leather stud boots - $60 down from $200

ws

Charlie Brown maxi (in black – neckpiece included)- $69 down from RRP of $349.00 (who would pay that for a cotton dress?!)

cbrown

A cute dress with bow (very Gossip Girl) from Forcast for $20, some Lee Rider jeans (added to the 2 pairs I already own) for $20 and a Sass dress for $30 from Trade Secret. I’m pretty happy with my purchases and although it may sound like it, I didn’t go overboard. A shopping trip to Brisbane or the Gold Coast used to set me back at least double what I spent this weekend!

Will post tomorrow with my latest op shop finds.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Vintage tight love

I picked up two pairs of vintage tights at Vinnies last week for $1 and decided to wear a pair today. Love them!

P1020033

The pink ones have little tulips on them and the black ones – well here is what they look like (ignore my not so nice legs) – aren’t they adorable?!

I’ll be keeping my eye out for more vintage ‘fashionables’

Will have some more finds to show you on Monday!
