Work Oufit Challenge - Day 100.

Well, day 100! It's been mostly easy ... and I've really liked some of the outfits thus far and also despised some of my choices. But there is still more than half the year to go so let's see what the rest of the year has in store for me!

Today I'd like to have a whinge. A whinge about EOFYS. How do I notify all of the stores I'm subscribed to to STOP sending me amazing end of financial year sale deals and tell my brain to delete or dispose of all said deals as soon as they reach my inbox, phone or letterbox. The reason why I should be on a spending ban is because I have two money goals at the moment.

1) the wedding ... now 136 days away

2) saving about $1000 to send myself to training to become a Pump Instructor. I may never look like this but will surely get fitter and have something else to keep me interested (and earn some extra spending money)

I'm off to Brisbane this weekend to find a dress for Bridesmaid Jess and hopefully I can resist all temptations to buy stuff for myself. Or maybe just resist most temptations.

The inspiration for today's outfit came from the beautiful, adorable and uniquely stylish Coury from Fancy Treehouse.

I just love the colour and waist tie of the skirt, the bow and lace detail of the top and the contrasting pink clutch. And now that I've seen my outfit in images it looks nothing like this! This was one of those items you see at the op shop and you're not entirely sure you like it but you're not sure you should leave it behind. Mum and I were puzzled as to how you would even wash it ... i guess you'd called it suede but it really just feels like I'm wearing a cow ... minus all the hair and stuff.

Anyway, thanks must go to Danielle for her encouragement in making me believe I could pull off knee high socks ... it takes me back to good old high school when we progressed from wearing black knee highs to white 'bus driver' type socks and finally seeing the light and wearing tights. But I don't know ... I think I may like the look - and might even have to get some over the knee ones.

A big thanks most go to all of you readers out there, old and new (welcome new followers!) for putting up with the first 100 days of my challenge and what not!

p.s. - just by 'checking in' to my gym last night I won a free P.T. session! Cool but I'm in for a world of pain. You think you're fit and then you do a PT session. Wish me luck!

Yay, I've reached and surpassed 50 followers - that is so exciting! I'd love to do a giveaway to celebrate this milestone but wonder what people would be keen to win? Let me know.

Op Shop Finds - June Edition

When you're out treasure hunting are you ever drawn to things familiar to you? The answer must be yes for me since I picked up this teapot very much like mum and dad's old faithful. I've already tested it out and it's SUPER. Now I just need a cute owl teapot cover.

I also snapped up this wrought iron figure for $5 at a garage sale, some Italian leather loafers for $1.50 from Vinnies, and two English Grindley bowls for the wedding for $1.50.

Pop on over to Sophie's to see what other treasures have been found this week.

Work Outfit Challenge - Day 98.

Hello friends. How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good - I achieved what I set out to achieve - a bit of exercise, a spot of browsing (and maybe a teeny bit of shopping), some nail painting and some sleeping, oh and some board games and ice cream cake with friends : )

Was thrilled to find this tigerlily dress at Trade Secret yesterday had been marked down to $10 ...  I'd been eyeing it off for a few months but was not prepared to shell out $60 for it. Ahhh, bliss. And I may have visited our city's two different Diva stores and got 4 items for $10 at each store ... one can never have too much cheap costume jewellery right?

And no, the weather has not suddenly gotten warmer ... I braved the probably 10-ish degree temperature to show the ruffle detail on my new dress.

I wonder if I can get just one more follower by my 100th outfit post?!

That is all.

Work Outfit Challenge - Day 97.

I've had a busy morning. Started with a 6am body pump class, then took Rocky for a walk, had a shower, straightened my hair and then browned meat and onions for a slow cooked beef stew we'll be munching on tonight. I only just made it to work on time!

I nearly braved bare legs this morning but being a whole 7 degrees at the moment I'm glad I wore my new knee highs. I actually bought these socks because I saw a chick wearing a cute black skirt with knee high socks/stockings and ballet flats and it looked fabulous. I haven't been brave enough to do it - I'm just not sure it would suit me.

And just for some fun, here are some photos of my rock dog and his older cousin (our family dog) the other night. How super cute!

Think i might paint my nails this weekend ... and maybe search for some treasures.

What are you planning?

Work Outfit Challenge - Day 96.

A while back I saw a picture of Jessica Simpson looking absolutey smashing in a white shirt, red blazer and jeans. So when I saw this blazer at a garage sale for $1 I knew I could not leave it behind. It is from the US label The Limited, made in Mexico and is made of the most beautifully soft linen.

Other celebs rocking the red blazer/jacket trend include Kristin Cavallari (love those flared jeans too), Rachel Bilson and the gorgeous Olivia Palermo (who in my opinion never puts a foot wrong ... AND rocks both blonde and brown hair)

Obviously I'm no match for any of these super beautiful and stylish celebs but here is my attempt at stylin' my new red jacket.

Work Outfit Challenge - Day 95.

Can I start by saying, god weddings are expensive! Being a super savvy and 100% bargain shopper, without actually budgeting individual items I thought we may be able to get away with spending about 10 thousand buckaroonies on the big day. Once we actually itemised and guesstimated everything that figure was doubled. We basically have to save $1000 every pay to be able to afford things - that with a home loan, car loan, insurances and all the rest. That doesn't leave a lot of play money unfortunately.

Does that mean i can't purchase the lovely envelope clutch I created this poll for last week? You still have 5 hours left to vote. Green is the current winner with 6 votes, closely followed by tobacco.

I'm again showing my support for Queensland by wearing maroon in anticipation of tonight's second origin match. I bought this skirt from asos and am very conscious about its length. I nearly didn't wear it but what is the point of buying something and then not wearing it?

Thanks to my lovely friend Kristin for taking my photos today. Plenty of silly faces in this post.

Oh, and for those of you out there who wear contacts ... I purchased a box of 6 contacts from www.ezyvision.com.au for a third of the price of what I paid at the optometrist ... no prescription needed AND free shipping. The shipping took a little longer than I expected but for the price it was well worth it.
