Work Outfit Challenge - Day 115 on an 115 day countdown.

Meet my new puffer vest by Esprit. It is so snuggly and warm and well, puffy :) Puffer vests are one of my staple winter weekend items. They keep you warm and hide that winter bulge. I was going to buy a red puffer very similar to this at Myer on which was on sale but they didn't have my size. I decided to go down on Saturday and see if they would ring the Brisbane stores to see if they had one in my size but arrived to see that it had been sold. So the boy and I headed to Trade Secret. It seriously has to be one of the best shops going around. This was $59.95 full price... cheaper than the one which was a further 25% off at Myer. The boy doesn't particularly like shopping but morphs into this somewhat happy shopper at trade secret. He didn't even flinch when I decided I was going to buy it even though we really shouldn't be buying anything since the wedding is, wait let me check, 115 days away!

Had an extremely hard time getting my boots to do up over my jeans this morning so don't be surprised if you notice a bit of muffin top action happening around the knee area.  I should have known ... these boots just fit around my legs with stockings on and I got ready at the gym this morning so just had to stuff the chub until they could do up! Needless to say I'm sitting at my desk and the boots are no longer on. Talk about leg suffocation.

An outfit that's a little bit ski bunny and a little bit more country.

Work Outfit Challenge - Day 114.

How do you turn brown and drab to brown and fab? Simple! Add a $3.00 retro bag from the op shop for a pop of colour!

Okay, so this outfit isn't so fab but don't you agree that the bag is?! I actually thought my under top was more close in colour to my dress but apparently i got dressed in the dark this morning. These colours combos are ALL WRONG!! What a complete disaster of an outfit : (

Op Shop Finds - July Edition

Mum and I braved a chilly Saturday morning in Toowoomba on a quest for some bargains, and bargains we got. I won't bore you with all the copious amounts of crockery I scored for the wedding collection but instead show you a few of my favourite finds. These include a vintage scrabble board, a cute Walt Disney rabbit squeaky toy (does anyone recognise the character?), a beautiful tin and a pre-1970s camera.

The first three items were picked up at a church jumble sale - my favourite kind of garage sale! I got a whole pile of stuff including an old mirror and industrial fan (currently awaiting repairs over at mum and dad's place), some Meakin crockery, a magazine holder and other treasures for a grand sum of $14. Can't go wrong!

I couldn't get a great pic of the camera so here is a pic courtesy of everyone's favourite online encyclopedia, Wikipedia! It's a Yashica Minister III reportedly introduced into the market in 1963. Mum and I got a whole pile of stuff from this garage sale and I offered the lady $5 for this (she had said it was $10) and it was a deal. I wonder if it's usable?! Might have to do some research!

Happy treasure hunting!

Work Outfit Challenge - Day 113.

TO FIND OUT ABOUT MY CHALLENGE GO HERE

Brrrrr, I've got the shivers today big time. I just can't get warm!

Monday mornings don't give me much time to get ready. I'm off to the gym for a 6am boxing class, get home about 5 past 7, jump in the shower, get dressed and leave for work to be there 5 or 10 minutes before 8. My showers are increasingly becoming those showers were you have to psych yourself up to get out. My method usually involves counting to ten but usually results in the last couple of numbers including a 'half' number or sometimes I'll extend the count to twenty. This morning was one of those showers so I had to think about I was going to wear today whilst basking in the warmth of the shower.

This dress is a winter staple, probably bought a size too big but practical all the same. I remember I wore it out one Saturday night last winter and a guy gave me (what he describes) as a compliment by commenting on my dress. I thought he was telling me I looked fat but he tried to explain that I was about the only sensible person in the pub as most other girls were wearing skimpy party dresses quite clearly meant for the warmer months. Anyway, enough of my rambling ...

Work Outfit Challenge - Day 112.

Hip hip hooray it's Friday. Had a bit more time to select an outfit this morning but not a whole lot because I only got home from the gym to allow myself about half an hour to get ready. The hair is freshly washed and left to its own devices and I'm trialling the tights under shorts thing that so many bloggers seem to pull off.

Off to some garage sales with mum tomorrow. Hopefully there is at least a couple on tomorrow as the numbers really seem to dwindle down in winter ... but so do the actual number of people garage saleing (how do you even spell saleing ... if it is even a word?). Hopefully the predicted zero degree temperature puts some bargain hunters off - I won't let a bit of cold weather distract me!

Off to the gym for a Friday lunchtime run today with a work mate. Goal is 6km hopefully in about 40 minutes. It's odd ... I do not enjoy running in the slightest but having someone running beside me is really good motivation for me as I am so competitive and I don't want to stop if my running mate doesn't. Is anyone else like that?

Oh, and I'm clean out of foundation. I'm a bit scungy when it comes to make up so any suggestions on a reasonably priced mineral powder foundation?

Enjoy your weekend.

Work Outfit Challenge - Day 111.

What a game last night! So extremely proud to be a Queenslander today. Oh, for those of you not in NSW or QLD (or Australia for that matter), the State of Origin is an annual series of three rugby league football matches. It is a classic grudge match between the neighbouring states and Queensland have won the last (now) six series. I urge you if you ever get the opportunity go down to your local pub and watch it. Even if you have no idea what is happening, as long as there are some native cane toads (QLD) and cockroaches (NSW) in the house I promise you that you will enjoy it.

Alas, I didn't get to sleep till probably 11:30pm last night so had a bit of a sleep in this morning. I am usually pretty good with time but opened my eyes to realise the time was 7:30am and I start work at 8:00am. This outfit was rushed and not very glamorous and makes me look like a whale but hey, it crosses off another one of the challenges set for me - paisley.

More time will be spent on tomorrow's dressing that is for sure :) I'm really despising myself right now.

Work Outfit Challenge - Day 110.

Hello from a chilly Toowoomba morning. Today is the big Origin decider and I've dressed appropriately for the occasion. Nothing fashionable about this outfit at all so just rocking the patriotism.
